click on the week/"rating" for my thoughts.

the downward spiral

nine inch nails - 1994 - industrial

29/10/26 - i have a character named after this band* so i figured i should try listening to them at least once. i liked this, but i think i like it the way i like art rather than the way i usually like music, which is to say i don't think i'll regularly go out of my way to listen to songs from it. i did start getting a headache around track 7 of my first listen through, so this makes this the first album of this project that's made me take an ibuprofen. high honour
*this isn't actually true.

notable songs: mr self destruct, heresy, hurt

i got heaven

mannequin pussy - 2024 - punk rock

23/10/26 - i'm unsure if punk music really is for me. this was perfectly fine, but i unfortunately just didn't end up having many thoughts about it. my only thought isn't really about the music and it is that this album cover is really beautiful...

notable songs: loud bark, i got heaven, OK? OK! OK? OK!

bittersweet

jamie paige - 2021 - electro pop

13/10/2026 - i would like to compare this to the music i really enjoyed when i was 13, but i don't want to go into it, so i'll just leave it at that. it scratches a very... nostalgic itch in my brain though, for those reasons. i really love how wordy all her lyrics are. ballroom specifically might be one of my songs of the year, i keep listening to it on repeat until it makes me want to start tearing up..

favourites: ballroom, ally, nothing (with you)

animaru

mei semones - 2025 - bossa nova/indie folk

08/10/26 - i can't say that i think i'm going to be going out of my way to listen to individual songs from this album regularly, but that doesn't mean that i think it's bad. it has a very lovely sound, i really adore the instrumentation and the general feeling it gives me, but the songs even after several listens all still kind of blend into each other for me. it did make a lovely soundtrack for when i was running around the house doing chores, though. i'll probably use it for those purposes again.

notable songs: animaru, norwegian shag, rat with wings

VAMP

magnolia park - 2025 - pop punk/emo

28/09/26 - between this and dayseeker's "creature in the black night" i feel like a parody of myself. you can just make a metalcore-ish album themed around vampires and have my attention instantly. it is actually that easy. why is it that easy

favourites: cult, wasted, shallow

a fate worse than loneliness

showing teeth - 2026 - metal

25/09/26 - from the first song i heard by this artist i was expecting this album to be a lot heavier than it actually ended up being. that's not a bad thing! she's got a great voice for both types of vocals.

favourites: labyrinth, shallow grave, paradigm
