an interlude to reflect on you & me.

"a break from the narrative to discuss matters of memory, and of being a protagonist."

in early 2023, i spent some time making two (exceedingly melancholic) comics based on the videogame Persona 5 Royal, centered around the characters of Joker and Akechi during the "third semester" of the game.

both of them can be read below.

1. "you" - a ghost amongst the living
24/01/2023
2. "me" - on the agency of puppets
09/03/2023

special thanks:

mads @madsengland - inspiration for "agency" (specifically said something along the lines of "(joker) cares about (akechi) so much that he wrenches the ability for the player to decide that for themself out of their hands")

my friend vada - beta'ing the scripts

PDFS

pdfs for this comic collection are available on itch.io and google drive.
includes an "annotated" pdf with commentary scattered throughout, if you are into that sort of thing.

COVERS

covers/back covers, for the print editions and for my own sentimental purposes.

COLOUR REFERENCES

doodles of both joker and akechi in the respective outfits they wear throughout "agency", drawn pre-production in order to figure out the colour schemes.

PREORDER PROMO

doodles made to promo preorders & shipping updates for the physical version of the comics.
i don't remember why i gave it an angel/devil theming. that doesn't have anything to do with the comics. i think i just thought it was cute at the time.

PHYSICAL BOOKS

printed & sold sometime in late 2023. included a sticker, and a "polaroid" insert (see below).

"SOMETHING TO REMEMBER US BY"

"polaroid" inserts, included with the physical copies as "thank you"s.

??? HUH

for reasons unknown to me, tumblr user viulus got their copy of this zine signed by xander mobus and robbie daymond, english voice actors of joker and akechi.
out of respect and a general feeling of confusion and bewilderment, i feel the need to also archive this here.
